What happens at a Bowen Treatment?

Once you have booked your appointment, please arrive on time.
Please wear loose/light fitting clothing, joggers, thin trousers etc and a Tee shirt/shirt etc (Pref not jeans)
Slots are usually about 1 hour and I allow time between in case people need more time, or get held up.
At your 1st appointment, you will be asked to fill in a form (remember your glasses) about your past and present issues (these are for my records only) we will then discuss the issues you are experiencing, any areas of pain or discomfort you have.
You will then be asked to initially lie on the couch on your front, arms by your sides, head to the side (if any of this is not possible with your current issues, then let me know, we can change things to make you comfortable - pregnant women can be treated too, just let me know and we can make you a 'bump hole')
Your treatment will then begin - remember Bowen is unique!
It is complimentary to many other therapies, however it is not like them in its delivery.
Subtlety is the key, you do not need to bash something to make your point - in fact if someone thumps you, the chances are you will want to thump them back, however, if they put a hand on your shoulder and ask if you are ok ... you're much more likely to start a conversation - and this essentially is Bowen - a network of gentle moves over specific muscles, tendons and ligaments which help your body release and allow it to shift and realign.
What I don't do is adjust your skeletal system - though you may hear your body click as it adjusts itself
So what makes it so Unique I hear you ask ... well, it's the breaks that are so important.
You will find that I make a few, targeted moves and then I step away - this may initially feel weird, however this is when the real treatment/magic happens.
Allowing the body to process the information I just gave it, the nervous system sends messages to the central computer (your brain) and receives instructions on what to do, all this happens during the breaks.
More moves are made around the body, reconnecting the dots, interspersed by more breaks.
Once you turn over there are more moves and breaks, although Bowen is given as a set treatment, depending on the issues presented and you may find I change some areas I work on depending on how things progress.
When you sit up, you may well find yourself feeling a bit light headed, you may also feel quite tired, and or aching as things start to change and possibly feeling just 'a bit odd' - this is perfectly normal and the best thing to do is to give yourself some rest time.
Drink plenty of water (room temperature, still water with maybe a slice of lemon is the best and about 1.5 - 2 litres every day, yup every day, that's about 3-4 pints) your body will potentially detox for a few days after treatment so do drink a lot of water to help it flush. Not drinking enough may result in headaches - I will often nag - sorry it comes with the job :)
If you have any questions at this point please ask or message me later - and do pop back here to leave me a review :)
Just time now to pop your shoes on, make your next appointment and don't forget to pay - I take Cash or BACS these are preferable however BACS payments are due on or before the day of treatment, I can also take card, but due to the card charges so I try to avoid it.
I do have a 24hr cancellation policy

2 - 3 Treatments are generally given about 7-10 days apart initially to get the body changing, maintenance sessions are then booked depending on you, your body, and your activities
So that's it - nothing scary or weird - and if you'd prefer to have a session with your partner, family member or friend then why not book a session together.
I also treat dogs and horses
